Lisa C. Signori serves as the Chief Financial Officer and Collector-Treasurer
(the “CFO”) for the City of Boston. Ms. Signori was appointed CFO by Mayor Menino
in October 2003. As CFO, Ms. Signori serves on the Mayor’s Cabinet and oversees
all of the City’s financial matters, including the functions of the Treasury,
Assessing, Auditing, and Purchasing Departments, as well as the Office of Budget
Management (“OBM”) and the State-Boston Retirement Board.
Prior to being appointed CFO, Ms. Signori served as the City’s Budget Director
since 1999. As Budget Director, she was responsible for the supervision of OBM,
which coordinates the analysis and presentation of the City’s operating budget
and capital plan. OBM also conducts accurate, objective and independent analysis
of City programs and services. During her tenure, Ms. Signori initiated several
program evaluations that led to improvements in a variety of government
operations and services.
Prior to being appointed Budget Director, Ms. Signori served as Chief of Staff
to the Chief Financial Officer of the City of Boston. As Chief of Staff, she
participated in a full range of fiscal policy issues and was liaison with other
city departments. Prior to her work as Chief of Staff, she served as a
management analyst in OBM providing extensive analytical support for the merger
of Boston City Hospital and Boston University Medical Center.
Prior to joining the City of Boston in 1994, Ms. Signori worked in
Washington, D.C. as a budget examiner at the White House Office of Management and Budget.
A Massachusetts native currently living in Brighton, Signori holds a MPM
(Master’s Degree in Public Management) from the University of Maryland,
and a BA (with honors) in Economics from Boston College.
